Sidra Hashmi wins the 2018-2019 IRLRC Essay Competition


Sidra Hashmi (BA student) is the winner of the 2018-2019 Interdisciplinary Research Laboratory on the Rights of the Child‘s (IRLRC) Essay Competition. Her essay entitled Mundane Marginalization: A Criminological Analysis of the Immigration Detention of Children in Canada was the winner of the undergraduate category.

One of the competition’s criteria is that the text must have been prepared for a course or for the completion of diploma or degree requirements. Sidra’s paper that was written in CRM 4313 Crimes of the Powerful (Winter 2019), taught by Christine Gervais (Associate Professor). As part of the award, the essay will be published in The Canadian Journal of Children’s Rights (CJCR).
